1. Acceptance of these terms
Welcome to HonestVu. By accessing or using HonestVu — including scanning your skin, taking the skin-type quiz, browsing product recommendations, creating an account, or using the skincare journal — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the service.
2. What HonestVu is
HonestVu is a skincare information and product discovery tool. You provide a photo (or photos) of your skin, and HonestVu generates observations about visible skin characteristics, general skincare suggestions, and product recommendations matched from a curated catalog of real products. Results may also be tailored using your answers to our optional skin-type quiz.
3. Not medical advice
HonestVu provides general skincare information based on what is visible in your photo. It is not a medical diagnosis, treatment plan, or substitute for seeing a board-certified dermatologist or other qualified healthcare provider. Photo-based analysis has inherent limits: lighting, camera quality, and angle can all affect what is visible, and many skin conditions cannot be identified from a photo at all. If you have pain, infection, severe or scarring acne, a changing or irregular mole, or any condition that worries you, please seek professional medical care promptly. Never disregard or delay medical advice because of something you read in this app.
4. Accuracy of results
We work hard to keep our analysis grounded in mainstream, evidence-based skincare information and our product catalog accurate. However, results are estimates and general suggestions, not guarantees. Skin is individual, retailer data changes over time, and no recommendation system can guarantee a product will work for you. Star ratings, review counts, and prices are periodically reviewed catalog references, not a live retailer feed, and may change. Individual experiences vary — a product that works well for many people may not work for you.
5. Accounts
Some features — saved scan results and the skincare journal — require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your password confidential, and take responsibility for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to create an account. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of everything you add to HonestVu, including journal notes and optional journal progress photos. By adding content, you grant us only the limited rights needed to store and display that content back to you within your account. You are responsible for the content you upload and agree not to upload anything unlawful, or images of other people without their consent. Scan photos are never stored at all — see our Privacy Policy for details.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse HonestVu. That means no attempting to access other users' accounts or data, no scraping or bulk-copying the catalog or service, no uploading malicious files, no reverse-engineering the service, and no use of HonestVu for any unlawful purpose.
8. Affiliate links and third-party retailers
Product recommendations may include links to retailers such as Amazon, Sephora, Ulta, or brand websites. Some of these links are affiliate links, which means HonestVu may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them — at no extra cost to you. Product selections are based on your scan results, skin type, and real product data, not on commission rates. When you tap a link, you leave HonestVu and your purchase, delivery, returns, and any disputes are solely between you and that retailer, under the retailer’s own terms.
9. Premium subscriptions
HonestVu Premium is available for $6.99 per month or $49.99 per year. Subscriptions renew automatically at the selected interval unless you cancel before the next renewal date. You can cancel from the Premium page in your account; cancellation stops the next charge and your Premium access continues through the end of the period already paid for. If a payment fails, Premium access may be limited or end until billing is resolved. Prices and available plans may change, but changes do not affect a period already paid for.
10. Refunds and cancellation
You can cancel at any time from the Premium page in your account — no phone call, no email, no retention screen. Cancelling stops the next charge, and your Premium access continues until the end of the period you already paid for. Because access continues for that full period, we do not provide pro-rated refunds for partial months or partial years, and unused time is not refunded.
Purchases made through an app store are governed by that store’s rules, not ours. If you subscribed through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, you must cancel through that store’s subscription settings, and that store’s refund policy applies to your purchase — including its right to grant you a refund directly, whether or not we would have. Nothing in these terms limits any refund or cancellation right you have under the consumer law of your own country. Where a store’s policy or applicable law gives you a stronger right than this section, that right applies.
11. Use at your own risk
Always patch test new products on a small area of skin first, introduce active ingredients slowly, and stop using anything that irritates your skin. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or managing a skin condition, check with your doctor before starting new active ingredients. HonestVu is not liable for any reaction, damage, or dissatisfaction resulting from products or routines you choose to try.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
HonestVu is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will meet your expectations.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HonestVu and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or skin reactions to products — arising from or related to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of fifty US dollars (US$50) or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
14. Changes to the service and these terms
We may update HonestVu and these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date on this page. Continued use of HonestVu after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
